Debit / Smart Card Project






The Smart Card is a banking card that has a micro chip that carries each customer banking details.


  Background Information

The Debit/Smart Card Project is one of the Private Sector Development projects that focuses on expanding the financial services to the under-banked and un-banked population in the rural areas of Lesotho. Implementation of the project is being managed by the Lesotho PostBank and coordinated by MCA-Lesotho. The current budget allocated to the Debit/Smart Card Project is USD1,338,141.60


  Objectives of the Project

The Project will introduce the Debit/Smart Card and the electronic transacting switch where customers can be able transact in the country where there are cellular phone networks.
